The Northern Territory Police Association (NTPA) has welcomed the appointment of Michael Murphy APM as the new Commissioner of Police.

NTPA President Nathan Finn said the Association looks forward to continuing a constructive and consultative relationship with Commissioner Murphy.

“Mr Murphy has nearly three decades’ experience in Territory policing, including at numerous remote stations. We welcome him being elevated to the role permanently.

“I have already made my key priorities clear to Commissioner Murphy, including the safety and wellbeing of members, staffing and resourcing, as well as recruitment and retention.

“Our members deserve a Commissioner that will have their best interests’ at the fore, and support the incredibly challenging work they do each and every day.

“I look forward to working with Commissioner Murphy to make the Northern Territory Police Force great again,” said Mr Finn.
